Question: Why is the note oil stained?

Answer:

John Henry mysteriously found this note in the trunk of his BMW weeks after Ted's death.  Not an ideal place to keep what you would consider an important document.  Hummm?

Facts about  the Ted Williams Will and the Oil Stained Note.

The  December 26, 1996 Last Will and Testament stated cremation.

Ted Williams’ 1996 Will stated “I direct that my remains be cremated and my ashes sprinkled at sea off the coast of Florida where the water is very deep.”  His current condition and placement at the Scottsdale cryonics facility was based on an oil stained hand-written note which Ted Williams allegedly signed in a hospital November 2, 2000 (according to Ted’s personal caregiver who was with Ted the entire day of November 2, Ted’s children was not present), and subsequent contracts (signed after Ted’s death) with the cryonics firm in July 2002."

Oil Stained Note States:

"JHW, Claudia, and Dad all agree to be put into
Bio-Stasis after we die.  This is what we want,
To be able To be Together in the Future, even
if it is only a chance."

Signed: John Henry Williams , Ted Williams, Claudia Williams

It was a well known fact that before Ted Williams would attend an autograph session, he would practice his autograph on pieces of scrap paper.  There were literary hundreds of these lying around Ted Williams' home.  A statement could have easily been written around Ted Williams' autograph.  YOU BE THE JUDGE!

In fact, it doesn't matter if he signed it or not.  A hand-written Will is called a Holographic Will, and that text on the oil stained note was written by the son, not by Ted Williams (who would be considered the testator).  Holographic Wills are not valid in Florida, according to the 2002 Florida State Statute Section 732.501-502.  At the time about twenty states permit Holographic Wills, but Florida did not.  In places where they do permit such Wills, they must be written entirely by the testator, and immediately incorporated into an existing formal Will.  This was not done.  As for contracts with the cryonics firm, Bobby-Jo’s attorney John Heer reviewed the documents recovered and disclosed by whistleblower Larry Johnson in December 2004.  The contracts were signed and dated (NOT by Ted Williams) on July 5 and July 26, 2002, which was postmortem.

To add insult to injury, Florida’s Assistant State Attorney Ric Ridgway refused to look at all of the evidence, sighting that this was a “family matter”.

Ridgway ignored a sworn statement written by Ted Williams’ caregiver Frank Brothers. Mr. Brothers states that the entire day of November 2 of 2000 (the day the oil stained note was supposedly signed) Ted’s children was not present.  You can view Mr. Brothers sworn statement in the PHOTOS and DOCUMENT section of this web site. What about Chapter 765.512 of the Florida Statutes?  Did Ridgway ignore that as well?

2002 Florida Statutes

Chapter 765.512

"(4)  If the donee has actual notice of contrary indications by the decedent or, in the case of a spouse making the gift, an objection of an adult son or daughter or "actual notice that a gift by a member of a class is opposed by a member of the same or a prior class, the donee shall not accept the gift."

Question:

So did an “adult daughter” make an objection?

Answer:

Yes!  Below is an email from Ted Williams’ “adult daughter” sent to Jennifer Chapman of Alcor on July 5, 2002 at 1:25pm.

Subject: Ted Williams

My name is Barbara Joyce Williams Ferrell, the daughter of Ted Williams.  It has come to my attention, that you and your organization may be in route to Citrus County Florida, to pick up my Father's body.
I am letting you know now, "DO NOT go any further - I am opposed to this procedure and you are 'On Notice' at this time".
John Henry Williams is not taking care of my Father's last wishes. This was never my Father's wishes, ever!

Please Note:  In order to protect Bobby Jo, her email and home address

has been deleted from the above document.

Why was Bobby Jo's email ignored?

It is quite evident that Florida’s Assistant State Attorney Ric Ridgway has some explaining to do.  Ted Williams rights were violated.  Was it Mr. Ridgway's duty to protect those rights?  Maybe this is a question for the Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum.

Photograph of Ted Williams and Bobby Jo.  Ted deeply loved his   daughter as evident in this photo.  Special thanks goes to Ted's good friend Frank Sullivan for giving me permission to utilize this photograph on this website.

Frank Sullivan is a former professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher over parts of eleven seasons (1953-1963) with the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins. He tied for the American League lead in wins in 1955 with Boston. For his career, he compiled a 97-100 record in 351 appearances, with a 4.15 ERA and 959 strikeouts. Sullivan was named to the American League All-Star team in 1955 and 1956.
